AI made building malware easy, so far more people can do it. But the malware still has to get onto your computer, and it uses the same five doors it always has. None of them is technology. All of them are you letting it in:
1The fake human check. A "prove you're not a robot" box asks you to press keyboard shortcuts and paste something. No real site ever does that. Close the tab.
2A file from a friend. "Can you test my game?" from a real friend's hacked account. Verify on a different app before you open anything.
3The first search result. A sponsored ad that clones the real download page. Never download software from an ad: go to the official site.
4Free versions of paid things. Cracked software and "free premium AI" that tell you to turn off your antivirus. That instruction is a signed confession.
5Panic on purpose. "Your account will be suspended in 24 hours." Don't click the link. Open a new tab and log in yourself. Real urgency survives 10 seconds.
Free: The 5-reflex security cardEvery prompt from this video, ready to copy. One email unlocks it, plus the kits from every other video.
Two-factor login still matters. Turn it on. But this kind of attack walks around it, and knowing why is what makes the five reflexes stick.
! Session cookies: the key under the mat
When you stay logged in, your browser keeps a small token called a session cookie. An info-stealer copies it, and the attacker opens your account already logged in: no password, no code. Your two-factor login was never asked.
If you think you've been hit: from a clean device, sign out of all sessions on your important accounts (most have a 'sign out everywhere' button), change passwords, and turn 2FA back on. That kills stolen cookies.
✓ Five settings that help
Install an ad blocker, which closes door three almost completely.
Use a password manager instead of saving passwords and cards in the browser.
Keep your antivirus on, always. No real software needs it off.
Use passkeys or an authenticator app where you can, and sign out of sessions you don't use.
Keep your browser and computer updated.
