Claude · The Fingerprint Files

Stop sounding like AI.

Give Claude these 5 files instead.

TL;DR

AI is trained on what already worked, so if your ideas come from AI, you're always one step behind it. Two moves get you back to the top of the curve: five files that give AI the details only you have, and six habits it can't copy.

  1. 1CLAUDE.md: rule zero. A dozen lines of facts and rules Claude reads at the start of every session, so you stop re-explaining yourself.
  2. 2SOUL.md: who you are. Don't write it. Get interviewed for it. Your story and beliefs give Claude a reason to sound like you.
  3. 3DESIGN.md: how you look. Screenshot a look you love and turn it into a design file, so every page starts from your style, not the purple-gradient AI look.
  4. 4VOICE.md: how you talk. Built from your real writing, including what you'd never say, which means "make it sound like me" finally works.
  5. 5AUDIENCE.md: who you serve. Real people and their exact words, no invented "Marketing Mary", so your copy says their sentence back to them.
  6. +Six habits AI can't copy. Think like a director, cross industry lines, spot signals with no reference, be a market of one, read whole books, and work with real experts.

Getting the files right

The video shows the five files. Here's how to make each one actually change what Claude produces, so it's your work with AI speed, not AI work with your name on it.

1 CLAUDE.md: short beats thorough

Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md at the start of every session. The fastest first draft: ask Claude what it already knows about you, save that as the file, then add one rule at the top.

Start your CLAUDE.md
Summarize everything you know about me: my work, my goals, and how I like to work.

Two rules for the file: keep it to about a dozen lines of facts, and no emojis. Claude mirrors the style you hand it. Put rockets in your rules and you'll get rockets in your work.

2 SOUL.md: the interview beats the essay

Nobody writes a good "about me" from scratch. Let Claude interview you instead, one question at a time:

Build your SOUL.md
Interview me to build my SOUL.md. Ask me one question at a time. Don't summarize until we're done.

The question that does the most work: "Finish this sentence: I built this because I was sick of ___."

3 DESIGN.md: show, don't describe

Ask AI for a design with no rules and you get the AI look: purple gradient, rounded cards, a rocket. Give it a screenshot of a site or brand you love instead:

Turn a screenshot into a design system
Turn this into a design system: an HTML preview and a DESIGN.md file.

One specific rule beats ten vague ones. The FORGE video's file says: one accent colour, ember orange, only where there's heat.

4 VOICE.md: from your writing, not your opinion of it

Feed Claude real samples (posts, emails, scripts) and let it pull the patterns. Then answer the question that matters most: what would you never say?

Build your VOICE.md
Read these samples of my writing. Build my VOICE.md: my tone in 3 to 5 words, words I always use, words I never use, and how my sentences are built.

Add a limit on your own favourite tricks. A signature move stops being a signature when it shows up every ten seconds.

5 AUDIENCE.md: real words only

Answer four questions first: who exactly you're for, what problem you solve, what you sell and for how much, and where they hang out online. Then send Claude to find how they actually talk:

Find your audience's words
Search Reddit, YouTube comments and forums for how [my audience] describes [their problem]. Give me their exact phrases, with links.

Merge your answers with their phrases. The best copy isn't clever. It's your customer's own sentence, said back to them.
